Introduction:
The Taipa Municipal Garden was completed in 1924. It is located in front of Our Lady of Carmel Church in Avenida de Carlos da Maia, Taipa, between the marriage registry and Carmo Swimming Pools. The most prominent feature of the garden is the little fountain and its arbour completed during the same period. The pool in the unique shape of a cruciform petal is still being used. The round arbour is planted with vines of abundant vibrant flowers, such as golden-and-silver honeysuckle. The statue of the well-known Portuguese poet Luís Vaz de Camões standing at the highest point is also worth visiting.

Situated right next to Avenida da Praia, Taipa, the garden is a place where visitors can see the museum complex consisting of five houses. The Old Taipa Village, including Rua do Cunha, which is the most famous dining and shopping area in Taipa, is directly accessible via Calçada do Carmo next to the garden.
