Taipa Grande Trail is about 4000 metres long, located in the Taipa Grande Natural Park on the eastern side of the Taipa Island, featuring a broad trail on walker-friendly slopes with views rich in ecological, educational and esthetical values. Its suitability for recreation and fitness makes it favourable for family and student outings in nature. One stretch of the trail is known as the Fitness Steps Walk, or Stairway to the Peak, as it ascends a steep hill ridge leading to its peak about 159.2 metres above sea level, the highest point in Taipa.
The Taipa Grande Camellia Garden is a veritable arboretum featuring 18 species of camellia of blooms in different shapes, with unique petals in white, red and yellow. Other camellia trees also add to the beauty of the garden with their own graces and distinctions. Three stone bridges connect the garden quarters. Aquatic plants such as lotus are cultivated in parts of the garden. Camellia flowers are at their best between December and February of the following year, during which time visitors may well take a stroll in the garden to appreciate its natural beauty as well as to smell the flowers’ fresh aroma.
